There’s something magic about being at sea. Maybe it’s the endless horizon, or the feeling of waking up somewhere new each day. Maybe it’s just the fact that, for once, someone else is doing the planning, and the cooking. Either way, our Princess cruise gave us the space to do something we don’t always get time for: to really enjoy each other’s company.
We kicked off most mornings with coffee and that view. No alarm, no rush, just a warm breeze and the sound of the waves. Some days we made it to a stretch class or the gym, others we just stayed on the balcony with smoked salmon and a smile, soaking it all in. No need to get dressed. No need to be anywhere. Just us.

One of our absolute highlights was dinner at Crown Grill. Now, we’ve eaten in a lot of places over the years, but this was right up there. A proper steakhouse. Think USDA prime cuts, aged to perfection, with lobster tails, Parmesan truffle fries, and melt-in-the-mouth desserts. It was the kind of meal you savour slowly, with a great bottle of red and even better conversation. One of those long, lingering dinners that makes you feel like you’re falling in love all over again.
We wandered from dinner to drinks, to shows, to starlit strolls, and yes, sometimes just straight to bed. Bliss. The thing is, Princess makes everything feel effortless with their packages. The Wi-Fi’s sorted. The cocktails are excellent. You don’t even need to remember your wallet. It’s all taken care of, so you can just be present.
And it’s not just about the food (though it is absolutely a foodie’s dream). One day we were wandering through the South of France, the next sipping espresso in Italy, all without ever unpacking our suitcase. The Mediterranean has never felt so easy, or so full of flavour.
It’s hard to explain exactly what made it so special. Maybe it was the cherry-topped cocktails and the late-night laughs. Maybe it was the quiet mornings or the gorgeous dinners. Maybe it was just time, proper time, uninterrupted and unhurried. We came away feeling full of love, full of stories, and very, very well-fed.
