Either plan may help protect your cruise payment in the event of unexpected occurrences that may affect your travel plans.  

Cancellation Protection¹  protects you from cancellation fees if you should need to cancel for ANY reason, so long as you notify Princess 72 hours before midnight on the date your cruise package begins.  

Platinum Protection² provides cancellation protection up until departure and provides reimbursement for eligible reasons and future cruise credits for any other reason. You may also want to consider purchasing Platinum Protection to have medical coverage while traveling. Some medical policies may not provide coverage for medical expenses incurred outside of the United States.

Platinum Protection could help reimburse you for unforeseen losses such as:

- You become injured or sick during your vacation and require emergency medical attention.

- A family member becomes ill, and you must return from your vacation early.  

-Your flight on which you were scheduled is delayed or cancelled and you miss your cruise departure.

- Your luggage is lost, damaged, or delayed.

- Cancellation Protection¹ offers the opportunity to receive a refund from beyond the published refund policy for the otherwise non-refundable cancellation fees. This waiver allows you, for any reason, to cancel up to 72 hours prior to the start of your scheduled travel arrangements made with Princess Cruise Lines and receive a money back refund equal to 100% of the prepaid, non-refundable cancellation fees applicable to your cruise vacation, less the cost of the plan.  Please refer to the cancellation and refund policy for your cruise for the applicable cancellation fee policy here. Cancellation Protection is available to all guests (excluding UK, AU & NZ residents) and is a non-insurance feature provided by Princess Cruise Lines.

- The Platinum Protection² provides a cancellation fee reimbursement up to the start of your scheduled travel arrangements made with Princess Cruise Lines and receive a reimbursement equal to 100% of the prepaid, non-refundable cancellation fees applicable to your cruise vacation, less the cost of the plan. The Platinum Protection also provides travel insurance coverage underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company for trip delays and interruptions, medical expenses and more. Non-insurance services for 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance are also included. Platinum Protection is only available to residents of the United States (excluding New York and Puerto Rico) and Canada (excluding British Columbia and Quebec)

Whether you can purchase Cancellation Protection¹ or Platinum Protection² depends on the type of fare you choose:

- Refundable fare options, refundable deposits: either Cancellation Protection or Platinum Protection can be purchased any time before the final payment due date for your cruise—even if you've already paid in full. Within the final payment period, programs may be added only if selected at the time of booking. Regardless of whether the booking changes after final payment and additional monies are owed, you still may not add Cancellation Protection¹ or Platinum Protection² to the booking.

- For casino bookings, Cancellation Protection¹ or Platinum Protection² may be added after final payment, but only if selected at the time of booking.

Yes. Each plan is applicable to your purchase of Princess Cruise Lines EZair® and/or our pre-/post-hotel packages. With Cancellation Protection you'll receive 100% of your air and hotel cancellation fees refunded as a Future Credit which may be redeemed at a future date.

Absolutely. You can cancel for any reason at least 72 hours prior (with our Cancellation Protection¹ plan), or any time prior (with Platinum Protection²) to the start date of your scheduled travel (sea, land and/or air arrangements) with Princess. 

Yes, if you become sick during your vacation, Platinum Protection provides reimbursement for covered medical expenses for any illness. Under the Trip Interruption benefit, Platinum Protection also provides reimbursement for any days that you are confined to your stateroom if the confinement is ordered by a medical professional.  

Yes. You could be reimbursed up to $20,000 for covered emergency medical, surgical and dental care should you become sick or are accidentally injured while traveling, as well as having coverage up to $100,000 coverage if an emergency medical evacuation is required.

The plan cost is based on a percentage of the Total Fare (per person) and is the same price for all ages. Total Fare includes Cruise Fare, Government Taxes and Fees, Required Cruise Fees and Expenses, and Princess Plus/Premier package (if applicable). Please refer to Product details for specifics.

Either plan is available for purchase prior to the scheduled cruise final payment date. Payment for the plan is due by final payment date. 

Enrollment in the plan becomes effective upon purchase. If you would like to remove either plan from your booking, you may do so prior to the time cancellation fees begin to accrue.
