A treasure hunt through the heart and soul of Naples leads you through the historic streets and takes you to some of its most culturally significant sights. Meet your guide at the pier and begin this energetic adventure.

Watch, listen and look for clues as you are led through the vibrant streets of Naples, past historic landmarks, majestic churches and traditional buildings, armed with a detailed map to help orient you. Keep an eye out for the symbol of red peppers on the balconies and doors; their hot flavor wards off evil tongues.

Pay attention to the tales your guide weaves into the tapestry of all you see – there will be a quiz at the end of the hunt!

Walk through Piazza Municipio, dominated by the 13th century Castel Nuovo, surrounded by deep moats. Cross into the semicircle Piazza Plebiscito, the largest square in Naples, flanked by the Royal Palace and the Church of San Francesco di Paola. Wondering why the church looks so familiar? It's because it architecturally mirrors the Pantheon in Rome. Spy two equestrian statues here and learn how they are related. Marvel at the Teatro di San Carlo, the oldest opera house in Europe, and the impressive neoclassical architecture of the Umberto Gallery that's crowned with a transparent roof.

Continue along Via Toledo, one of Naples' longest streets, lined with chic boutiques and authentic pizzerias, the world's first pizzeria opened in Naples in 1830, and the colors of the traditional Margherita pizza mimic the Italian Flag.

Two Renaissance tombs frame the entryway to the Church of Sant'Anna Dei Lombardi, and at the Church of Santa Maria Anime del Purgatorio, the gate is topped with two eye-catching icons – bronze skulls and crossbones.

Enter the San Gregorio Armeno district, and no matter what the date, you'll find yourself celebrating Christmas! Can you spot a "presepi"? It's a terracotta and wood Neapolitan nativity scene.

Your treasure hunt ends with a flourish at Naples Cathedral, noted both for its beauty as well as the ceremony that surrounds it. The cathedral is dedicated to Naples' patron saint, San Gennaro, whose blood, preserved in a vile, is stored here. Three times a year it is taken out; it liquefies, then all is well – but if it does not, fear for the safety of Naples!

In the end, everyone on this treasure hunt is a winner, for having the opportunity to experience the magnificence of Naples is prize enough!

Take a transfer back to the ship or opt to stay in town to shop for souvenirs or to sample some traditional Neapolitan cake.
