What you will visit:
Organic Orchard
In the village of Las Brisas, an organic orchard offers a glimpse into traditional growing methods. You will have the opportunity to go into the fields and pick produce to be used in preparing a snack with the local villagers.
Dairy Farm
A local dairy farm invites you to learn about milk production in the community. Always wanted to milk a cow? This is your opportunity.
Tree Nursery/Forest Recovery Site
The valuable work of a tree nursery and the importance of trees to the rainforest and the world biosphere are explained. You will be given seedlings to plant at a forest recovery site.
Community Center
The local residents invite you into their community center to delve into the fascinating Cabecar native culture. Engage in informal, warm conversation with these local artisans, learning about their handicrafts and traditional way of life. Local music will be played.
What you will see along the way:
When you plant your seedling in the forest recovery site, take in verdant mountain scenery and the breathtaking views as far as the eye can see over the lush rainforest. On a clear day, point your camera toward Turrialba Volcano in the distance.
Snack:
At the community center, help locals prepare a snack from the fresh produce you picked earlier in the organic orchard.
Shopping:
After a live demonstration by talented artisans from the nearby Cabecar native community, you will have time to purchase their handicrafts as keepsakes and gifts.

Special Notes:

Participants must be able to walk at least a half-mile unassisted. Bring your spirit of adventure and be willing to participate and get your hands dirty -- this is a completely hands-on experience.
