WHAT YOU VISIT
Puketi Forest
Massive kauri trees once covered most of the Bay of Islands. Growing over 164 feet high these mighty giants are now protected in the 37,000-acre Puketi Forest. A guided walk along a boardwalk through the magnificent forest of hardwoods, podocarps and kauri affords you the opportunity to marvel at these imposing trees.

Maori Meetinghouse
A Maori Marae (Maori meetinghouse) is an ideal destination to learn about Maori culture and traditions.
Upon arriving, you'll be greeted with a traditional "powhiri" or welcome ceremony. You're certain to be awestruck as Maori elders explain the carvings adorning the meetinghouse and share their history of the first Maori migration from Polynesia over 1,000 years ago.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Enjoy a photo stop at Kerikeri, where Maori settlements flourished before Europeans arrival in 1819. Focus your lens on the Kemp House, a quaint two-story home that New Zealand's oldest standing European building and the Stone Store, which sells a variety of items that recall Kerikeri's frontier past.
