WHAT YOU WILL VISIT:
Maruishi Sake Brewery
Sake is a Japanese alcoholic beverage made from rice grain. In Japan, it dates back to the 3rd century B.C., when the particular method of planting rice used for sake was introduced. This sipping libation has been enjoyed and savored ever since. A guided tour of the Maruishi Sake Brewery is an opportunity to learn the origins and production methods of this traditional drink that has been brewed in the region for more than 180 years. The brewery's trademark sake brand is Tokugawa Ieyasu, named for the famed shogun who hailed from the area.

Miso Factory & Museum
Miso is a traditional condiment that is made from fermented rice, barley, and soybeans. It is often turned into a paste that can be used for sauces or for seasoning meats and vegetables and is the main component in the popular miso soup. Hatcho miso originates from Okazaki, is made traditionally with 100% soybeans and is aged for up to three years. View the huge wooden casks where the miso is fermented, and taste miso products, including the unusual miso ice cream, which some say tastes like caramel.

Local Fish Market
Located within the Katahara fishing port, Aji-no-Yamasui is a small but lively local fish market brimming with the finest seafood sold by cheerful vendors. Gamagori is famous for mehikari "greeneye" fish, which is very high in various nutrients. Sample this and many other varieties, such as shrimp, octopus and clams, under the tutelage of Mr. Daisuke Yamamoto, a Princess local expert and the executive director of Aji-no-Yamasui, with over 30 years of expertise in the seafood business.

WHAT YOU WILL SEE ALONG THE WAY:
Gamagori is a seaside sightseeing destination whose natural surroundings and mild climate make it a water-filled wonderland in all seasons. There will be a photo stop of Takeshima Island, a picturesque highlight of Gamagori.
You'll travel into Okazaki, nestled at the base of the Higashiyama mountains on an approximately 40-minute scenic drive.

TASTINGS:
A wonderful way to learn about the Japanese culture is through its cuisine. Sip sake at the Maruishi Sake Brewery, sampling both its famed Tokugawa Ieyasu brand as well as a variety infused with local fruits. At the Miso Factory, savor two types of miso as well as miso-flavored ice cream, which some say tastes like caramel. Conclude with the catch of the day at the local fish market-have your chopsticks at the ready!
