Sambodrome (Sambodromo)
The ultimate "stadium" of samba and the venue of the Samba Parade of Rio de Janeiro, the Sambodrome was built in 1984 by Brazil's celebrated architect Oscar Niemeyer. It is a concrete structure that comes alive as thousands of cheering spectators and special-effects lighting accompany the spectacular, eye-poppingly colorful parades. There are spectator bleachers along each side of it offering seating at different price points. This tour includes reserved seating in the Box Seat area.

The Samba Parade entrants are the showpiece of the Rio Carnival, with 30,000 annual participants taking part in a fiery competition of music, dance and incredible pageantry which is uniquely Brazilian. With roots in the traditional Greek and Roman festivals, the parade is known as "The Biggest Show on Earth." The Sambodromo Parade is a dazzling spectacle with huge floats, lavish costumes and the pulsing beat of the music of the samba. The parade is also a highly competitive event, judged on a variety of criteria ranging from the theme of choice to the percussive beat, the ornamentation of the floats, and the beauty and originality of the costumes. A year's worth of dedication and practice is demonstrated by the participating schools, with each one trying to outdo the other in this ultimate extravaganza. View all the action from your Box Seat, with exceptional proximity to the Carnival Parade. You'll see all the incredible Samba dancers from a close vantage point in the comfort of a box that seats six participants. The parade contains nudity; parental discretion is advised. Price of the ticket includes transfer, reserved seating in Section 9, and a guide. Several different transfer times will be provided for the return to the ship. Expect traffic delays en route to and from the parade. Tickets are nonrefundable; cancellation fees may apply.
