What you will visit:

Shenandoah Farm
Nestled on a native wild birdlife reserve, local proprietor Simon introduces the illustrious history of this sprawling farm estate that began as a Maori fortress in the 1800s. When the barn doors are open, you'll explore a private museum not open to the public, filled with artifacts found on the property dating back over the last 150 years. Simon's passion and ability to enthrall makes this local Kiwi tour experience genuinely unique and offers an opportunity to escape to a rural, countryside life surrounded by scenic beauty and wildlife.

What you will see along the way:
Overlooking the sparkling Pauatahanui Inlet and linked with Battle Hill (a significant Maori war site in the region), journey to the rural destination of Shenandoah, a working farm and hidden historical gem inside a native wild birdlife reserve approximately 20 minutes from Wellington City. The area is so lovely you'll learn why Pauatahanui means "the place you never want to leave."

Photo Opportunities:
Grab your camera and enjoy this photographic property. Focus your lens on the formal gardens, adorable farm animals, wildlife and native birdlife.

Snack:
Tuck into a homemade morning/afternoon tea featuring the property's specialties and locally made produce from the greater Wellington region. Savor your delights by the pond and jetty or on the veranda of the colonial homestead, taking in amazing inlet views while you enjoy a glass of New Zealand wine, beer, tea or coffee. Sample menu includes a platter of food including homemade sweets baked by the guide, locally produced cheeses with crackers and pickles, local salami, and patés.
