Sip, Stroll, Sunset: The Best Places to Enjoy a Cocktail on Board
Poolside & Carefree
Let’s start with the obvious: Top deck cocktails are an absolute must. It’s the first place I venture to once I’ve unpacked! You’ve got sunshine, open skies, and a chilled drink in hand. What more do you need?
Go tropical here — it’s practically a rule! I love something like the Azul Blanco or a frozen mango daiquiri. Anything fruity, refreshing, and best served over crushed ice. I guarantee, this will instantly make you happy and make you full of sunshine smiles.
If you’re sailing through somewhere warm — like the Mediterranean or the Caribbean — this is the dreamiest setting. All you need to do is pair your cocktail with a sun lounger, a good book, a dip in the pool and no plans whatsoever.
Aperitivo Hour at Bellini’s
I absolutely adore the atmosphere of a sophisticated cocktail bar. And Bellini’s absolutely has this. It’s where the mood starts to shift. It’s the golden hour moment — guests starting to get dressed up, music drifting through the air, the warm buzz of anticipation for an unforgettable night.
This is THE place for spritzes, martinis, or something with a touch of sparkle And oh my, the sparkling wines on board a Princess cruise are really special. I love a classic Negroni here, or a citrus-forward cocktail with a zingy or bitter edge. I want something that whets my appetite and makes me feel like the evening’s just beginning.
I love gently sipping and absorbing the atmosphere. And Bellini’s is also one of the best people-watching spots on board — and trust me, it’s an art form!
Pre-Dinner Perfection
Heading to Sabatini’s or The Crown Grill? My advice is to arrive a little earlier and make time for a delicious pre-dinner drink. This is when I love to experiment — something strong and stirred, like a classic Martini or maybe one of the expertly crafted, regionally inspired cocktails you’ll only find on board.
The team are great and want you to start with the best drink possible, so ask the bartender what they recommend with your meal — there’s usually a pairing suggestion, and they’re more than happy to walk you through it.
Food and drink go hand-in-hand and they are part of the same experience, they don’t just exist side-by-side. It’s one of life’s pleasures and on Princess, they really do get it right.
Sunset Sips at Wake View
This one’s an absolute hidden gem – You find a quiet spot at the back of the ship, watch the sun dip into the sea, and sip something slowly as the sky turns pink. I always make a date with the sunset. It’s one of my favourite things to do on board. It’s cinematic, romantic, and ridiculously relaxing.
This is where I bring a Great Pumpkin or a spiced rum cocktail into proceedings. Something mellow, warm, and a little indulgent is exactly what this occasion asks for.
And yes — this is your moment for a reflective stare out to sea. Breathe the air in deep and sip to your heart’s content. This moment will stay with you forever. And it starts your evening in exactly the right way!
Final Thoughts: The Right Drink, The Right Place, The Right Time
There are so many elements that make your Princess sipping experience perfect. A great cocktail isn’t just about what’s in the glass — it’s about what it adds to your moment. Whether it’s a toast at sailaway, a post-show negroni, or a mimosa at sea day brunch, these little rituals make the holiday.
So, take your time. Enjoy every sip. And maybe try something new. Explore the ship with drink in hand. And wherever you find your perfect cocktail corner, raise a glass to it and enjoy every second.
