This adventurous day away from the ship is yours to shape and enjoy. The bus will pick you up from the pier at Zeebrugge for the scenic journey through incomparable Flemish countryside for the largest city in the region, Bruges.
Bruges is known as the 'Venice of the North,' thanks to a network of beautiful canals that run through this historic and vibrant city.
Upon arrival at the coach parking area, your guide will hand out maps, provide directions to Walplein Square in the center of town and remain at the meeting location to answer any questions you may have. You will then be left to your own devices for the rest of the day to fully enjoy around five hours of independent sight-seeing, shopping and exploration. Some of the city's wonderful landmarks that you should try to incorporate into your self-styled itinerary include the 13th-century Church of Our Lady, whose altarpiece is home to Michelangelo's amazing white marble sculpture of the 'Madonna and Child,' the ornate Basilica of the Holy Blood, or the impressive City Hall on Burg Square. If you're feeling active, you may wish to climb the Belfry, or perhaps hire a bicycle, or take a ride on a horse-drawn cart.
Shopping opportunities are plentiful with many of the shops and boutiques selling fine local goods including Flemish lace, tapestries and mouthwatering Belgian chocolate.
At the agreed time, you will then rendezvous with your guide once more at the coach parking area for the return journey to the ship.
