What you will visit:

Nemo Point Beach – Remote Small-Group Hike
Discover the unspoiled landscapes of Alaska's Tongass National Forest on a small-group excursion. Enjoy a picturesque 20-mile drive south of Wrangell to the trailhead and embark on a moderately challenging one-mile round-trip hike through vibrant forest and across open muskegs. Guided by a knowledgeable local who will share favorite hidden gems, you'll make your way down to the remote shores of Nemo Point Beach near Turn Island. Stay alert-deer, eagles, wolves, and bears are known to roam these parts. At the beach, relax with a light lunch and keep watch for whales that occasionally feed offshore. The hike back features a steady incline, with gravel paths and wooden boardwalks characteristic of Alaska's classic "step and run" trails. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and pack a rain jacket.

What you will see along the way:
As you journey "out the road," you'll find yourself immersed in the heart of the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the United States and part of the world's largest temperate rainforest. Spanning nearly 17 million acres, the Tongass is a vast, lush wilderness teeming with life and natural beauty. Towering Sitka spruce, western hemlock, red cedar, and alder trees line the road. Beneath them, the forest floor is carpeted with thick beds of moss, wildflowers, and seasonal berries. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including bald eagles soaring overhead.

Light Lunch
Amidst beautiful surroundings, tuck into a snack box filled with flavorful wraps, fresh salads, and a selection of chocolate and granola bars.
