What you will visit:
Victoria, British Columbia
Victoria, western Canada's oldest city, was founded in 1843 as a Hudson's Bay Company trading post. Victoria's early history has been carefully preserved and can be seen in lovingly restored residential, commercial and public buildings. This city is the most "British" in all of Canada and boasts prominent reminders of its colonial past. On your drive you will see the impressive architecture and beautiful, elegant Victorian and Edwardian-era mansions around every corner. This tour offers an optional downtown drop-off, allowing you to return to the ship independently.
The Royal BC Museum
Delve into the rich and fascinating natural history of British Columbia at the world-class Royal BC Museum. Founded in 1886, the museum is considered a Canadian cultural treasure for its collection of artifacts and specimens of British Columbia's natural and human history. Peruse a series of main galleries with immersive experiences, spectacular wildlife photography and thoughtful displays that transport you through time. Discover authentic artifacts and realistic dioramas that tell the tales of the HMS Discovery and introduce the ferocious woolly mammoth in his icy world and much more. The well-curated gift shop sells mementos and fine products.
What you will see along the way:
A relaxed city driving tour orients you to Victoria, one of the oldest cities in the Pacific Northwest. Treasured sights include Beacon Hill Park, where peacocks roam, and the majestic tallest free standing totem pole in the world. Admire popular Oak Bay Village and the capital city's rich visual history on full display in the downtown Inner Harbor lined with stately legislative buildings, as well as historic Old Town and the iconic, grand Empress Hotel and Thunderbird Park, showcasing First Nation monuments.
