Board your motorcoach for the approximately 30-minute drive inland to Mdina. The old island capital, Mdina has been inhabited since the 8th century B.C., when Phoenicians founded the city on one of the island's highest points - and point furthest island from the sea.

Your guided walking tour enters the city via the Mdina Gate, a massive, ornate structure built in 1724 by the French architect Charles François de Mondion. Stroll along the city ramparts. The fortified walls date to the years following the Norman conquest of 1091. (The Norman warrior-king Roger I reconquered both Sicily and Malta from Islamic rule.)

Continue through the narrow medieval streets to the Cathedral of the Conversion of St. Paul. Legend claims that the basilica is built on the site where the Roman Governor Publius welcomed St. Paul to the island following his shipwreck. The original Norman cathedral was destroyed in the Great Earthquake of 1693; the current, Baroque edifice was consecrated in 1703. The cathedral floor is inlaid with the marble tombstones of Maltese noblemen and clergy, while the vault is decorated with painting chronicling the life and martyrdom of St. Paul.

From Mdina, your walking tour continues to nearby Rabat, once a village-suburb of Mdina. Tour the Wignacourt Museum, St Paul's Grotto, St Publius chapel & Shelters & Catacombs. It was formerly the baroque residence of the Chaplains of the Knights of St. John.

Board your motorcoach and continue to Ta Qali Crafts village, where you tour the Mdina Glass Factory. Founded in 1968, the Factory has won international acclaim and awards for its fine art glass, lampworks and fusion glass. Tour the factory and watch master craftsmen at work before visiting the show room.

Board your motorcoach for the return trip to Valletta.
