WHAT YOU VISIT
Ta' Marija Restaurant
Embark on an evening of dining and dancing at this award-winning, family-run restaurant that's established itself as the foremost exponent of authentic Maltese cuisine. As you taste a number of traditional local dishes accompanied by local wine, you'll be treated to a folklore performance featuring six dancers dressed in traditional 18th century costumes.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Folkloric dancing is enshrined as the cultural identity of the Maltese people so you'll want to capture the dancers as they twirl, and hop to live folkloric music.
DINNER
Feast on a menu of Maltese favorites beginning with arancini maltija (italian rice balls stuffed and coated with batter and breadcrumbs), alijota bil (fish soup), frott tal bahar (spaghetti with seafood), or ravjul bil-ġobon tat-tursina u zalza tal-faqqiegħ (gorgonzola-filled ravioli with creamy button mushroom and truffle oil sauce), klamar mimli (whole calamari stuffed with a breadcrumbs mixture and cooked in a tomato sauce), or stuffat tal-laħam ta¿-¿iemel (meat stew marinated and then slowly cooked in a red-wine sauce, typically alongside onions, tomatoes, and various herbs and spices), or fenek mimli b'¿al¿a tal-port (baked boneless rabbit stuffed with rabbit liver, herbs and rice with fruity port wine sauce). And for dessert, there's trajfil ta' marija (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry custard with fruit and savoiardi biscuits), helwa tat-tork (a candy made with sugar, tahini, water, vanilla, and almonds).
