St. John's Co-Cathedral
Constructed by the Knights of Malta between 1572 and 1577, the church is considered one of the finest in the world and one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in Europe. Behind its plain façade is a dazzling interior of intricately carved stone walls, a painted vaulted ceiling, and a marble mosaic floor, which is inlaid with the glittering tombs of 400 knights. In the oratory you'll find the "Beheading of St. John the Baptist" painting by Caravaggio.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Among the stunning sites you'll see during the day, you'll pause for an outside visit at The Grand Masters Palace, one of the first buildings to be built in Valletta. Dating back to 1571, the Palace was once the residence of the Grand Masters of the Knights of St. John and currently houses the Office of the President of Malta.

LUNCH
A traditional Maltese lunch awaits at The Old Farmhouse (Razzett L'Antik) in one of Malta's largest valleys. On the menu is a vast selection of Maltese antipasto; chicken and roast potatoes with fennel, onions and tomatoes; dessert; water and a glass of house wine.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
A walking tour through Valleta begins at the Triton Fountain. Located right outside the main Gate of Valletta, three half-humans, half-mermen are one of the first things you'll see as you enter Malta's capital.
