WHAT YOU VISIT
Gozo Island
Go where coaches can't and discover the island's dramatic cliffs, spectacular seascapes, and architectural masterpieces from the seat of a 4x4 Utility Terrain Vehicle. After a boat transfer to Gozo, your guide will take you around the island beginning with a stop at picturesque Dwejra Bay and Sanap Cliffs offering magnificent views. Then, it's on to Cittadella, an ancient fortified city in the heart of the island and Ta'Pinu Basilica, the impressive 16th century Roman Catholic Church that's connected with miraculous healings. Another exceptional church is Ix-Xewkija, also known as the Church of Saint John the Baptist, an enormous circular structure in white local limestone. Your next stop is the 17th century Knight's Washhouse, which showcases the traditional wash houses that were once vital to the community and is still used by locals. A dive into the clear blue waters of Xwejeni Bay ends your visit to this enchanted isle.
Comino Island
Like Gozo, it boasts crystal-clear waters and rugged limestone cliffs. Here you'll stop at a couple of lagoons, and one of its many limestone caves that stretch 40 meters (131 feet).
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Crescent-shaped Dwejra Bay offers plenty of photo ops. Overlooking the bay is Dwejra Tower. Erected in 1652 by the Knights of St. John, the tower was manned by a small garrison armed with guns and cannons. Fans of the TV show Game of Thrones may recognize the area as the setting for the wedding of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo.
LUNCH
Taste authentic Gozitan cuisine with a slice of "ftira," a pizza-like flatbread stuffed with potatoes, tuna, tomatoes, olives, and onion, served with water and/or a glass of local wine.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
The boat ride from Valleta to Gozo cruises past Sanap Cliffs situated on the southern coastal side of island. Rising 120 meters (393 feet), the ancient limestone cliffs were carved through the eons by the Mediterranean Sea.
