WHAT YOU VISIT
Piran
Regarded by many as the most beautiful town in Slovenia, the city is a jewel of Venetian-Gothic architecture beginning with the town walls, which were constructed to protect it from foreign invasion.
Padna Farmers Market
A tiny village with only 170 citizens, the village boasts an amazing panoramic view over the Slovenian coast and the market is a lively destination overflowing with stalls of vegetables, olive oil, wine and and other delicacies.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
On the hill above Piran is the largest and most important church, the Church of Saint George. Dating from the 12th century, it's a splendid example of gilding the lily – a stunning Renaissance façade conceals an opulent interior.
SNACKS
While strolling the farmers market in Padna, you might like to purchase a local favorite called torta plava laguna, a sweet confection filled with hazelnuts, almonds and breadcrumbs.

A panoramic drive takes you along the very short coastline. From Trieste your driver will head south into Slovenia and your guide will share the area's history and political significance. One of the first towns you'll pass by is Izola, once a small island connected to the mainland by a stony bridge until the 19th century.
