This charming city nestled on a mountain-ringed bay may be under the radar but it's over the top in history, culture and peaceful pursuits. Your half-day adventure begins with a visit to the Zuiryuji Temple. Dating back to the 17th century, its public chamber, main hall and temple building are designated National Treasures. Explore the grounds and enjoy the serenity and calm of this significant temple complex. Next is a stop at Kansui Park, a popular venue for fun and relaxation. Then, it's on to the Suiboku Museum, known for its modern Japanese ink paintings, or "suibokuga." The single story building with garden and tea room is a serene place where visitors can experience the richness of nature.
