WHAT YOU VISIT
Toba Aquarium
One of Japan's largest aquariums boasts more than 30,000 aquatic animals from 1,200 species with several spectacular themed zones including Ancient Sea, Jungle World, Waterside in the Forest, and the Polar Sea, and one of the areas is dedicated to the sea life in the waters around Ise Bay and the Kumano-Nada Sea. Get up close to the only dugong in Japan at the Mermaid Sea exhibit, marvel at the oddities in "Weird Living Creatures Research Center" and view fun-loving sea lions and seals in the Marine Mammal Kingdom.

Kashikojima Cruise
Sitting just off the far tip of the peninsula, Kashikojima is the largest island in Ago Bay. Renowned for its pearl cultivation, you can see the many oyster rafts floating in the water as your captain makes his way around the island and jagged coastline.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
The Toba Aquarium has a wide range of marine species, from seals and dolphins to more unusual specimens such as the "fishing cat" and the dugong, which is similar to a manatee. The walruses have become local celebrities for the tricks they perform and the penguin march is sure to provide memorable photos.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Tranquil Ago Bay is known for its seemingly boundless natural beauty, which includes hot springs, Ise-Shima National Park, rugged coastline and 60 islands. It was here in 1892 that local pearl farmer and merchant Kokichi Mikimoto invented a way to culture perfectly round pearls.
