WHAT YOU VISIT
Ostuni
Known affectionately as "La Città Bianca," (the White City), for its Greek-inspired white walls and its typically white-painted architecture, the fortified town rests atop a hill overlooking the sparkling Adriatic Sea. Once you arrive, you'll enter the city at the ancient walls then amble a time-worn tangle of cobbled alleyways
, past staircases and under arches to Ostuni's Old Town and Piazza della Libertà, the main square. Here you'll find Palace Municipale; once a 12th century convent, today, it functions as the Town Hall. Also in the square stands the statue of Sant'Oronzo, Ostuni's patron saint. Nearby sits the Cathedral of Assunta. Built in the Romanesque style in the 13th century, it was rebuilt 200 hyears later in the Gothic style following a fairly significant earthquake. Outside, the exterior boasts an elegant façade with an elaborate rose window. Inside are religious relics, including the relics of Sant' Oronzo, a tabernacle with a radiant golden sunburst design and a peaceful and spiritual chapel.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Ostuni offers never-ending photo ops. Take in the stunning views of the Adriatic coast and centuries-old olive trees that separate the town and the sea. The magnificent rose window of the Cathedral of Assunta features Christ at the center surrounded by 24 finely carved columns representing the hours of the day.
