DAY ONE:
The day begins with a guided walk through the maze-like alleyways of the Kasbah, the historic 17th century former sultan's palace, and home to the Battouta Museum. Step inside and marvel at the displays that showcase the life and travels of 14th century Moroccan explorer Ibn Battuta. Continue through the Medina and the Grand Socco, the gateway to modern Tangier, and Petit Socco known for local artisans, traditional shops and colorful stalls. From here, you'll board a high-speed train to Rabat, Morocco's capital. After a guided panoramic drive, you'll be treated to lunch at Villa Mandarine in the Medina. Refreshed, you'll embark on a coach tour past the Mausoleum of King Mohammed V and visit the Chellah Necropolis, a fortified 14th century royal burial site and UNESCO World Heritage site. Further on is the 12th century Kasbah des Oudayas, a UNESCO World Heritage site and historic fortress-citadel known for its distinctive blue-and-white painted streets. After this visit, you'll check in at the hotel and depart for dinner at a local restaurant in the Old Medina.
DAY TWO:
After breakfast, you'll travel to Casablanca, Morocco's largest city. First stop is the awe-inspiring Hassan II Mosque, an architectural masterpiece of intricate mosaics and marble. Renowned as the world's second-largest mosque, the structure can accommodate 25,000 worshippers in its interior and 85,000 worshippers on the esplanade. The minaret, the world's tallest at 198 meters (650 feet) is topped with a laser beam that shines at night in the direction of Mecca. Photos taken, you'll head to Abderrahman Slaoui Museum, dedicated to Moroccan jewelry and decor. Nearby is Rick's Cafe were you'll enjoy lunch before heading back and rejoining the ship.
