Taipei is a shining example of a modern city. Feel its lively pulse as you travel from the pier into downtown and on to Taipei 101, one of the world's must stunning skyscrapers. Completed in 2004, this architectural marvel that resembles a stalk of bamboo features 101 floors above ground, five below and a luxurious shopping center. For eye-popping views, take an elevator to the 89th floor and step out onto the observation deck. From this unique perspective, you can look out over the city and Taipei Basin. Photos taken, you'll return to the coach and continue on to the Presidential Office Building. Originally built in 1919 to serve as the Office of the Governor-General of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period, it's one of the most recognizable buildings in Taiwan. Admire the traditional Asian and European design before enjoying free time to shop for souvenirs.
