WHAT YOU VISIT
Waffles at Bakers' Paradise
With its rugged mountains, granite cliffs and waterfalls (and the occasional wild mountain goat climbing across the rocks), the Lysefjord is an ideal destination to sit back, relax and celebrate its stunning scenery over a plate of freshly-made waffles at the the delightful and idyllic Bakers' Paradise in the village of Lauvik. Originally a smallholding comprised of a house and barn, the farm was purchased by the Bakers' Union in the 1920s, and it became a getaway for those in the trade. Today, it hosts travelers looking for a genuine slice of Norwegian fare. Admire fantastic views of the fjord and surrounding mountains while you savor freshly-made waffles served with sour cream, jam and coffee. Later, visit the gift shop or try your hand at some typical Norwegian activities, such as fishing from the pier or throwing horseshoes.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
On your return drive, you'll stop for photos at Hana Viewpoint, which boasts beautiful views over Sandnes and Stavanger. Further on is another stop at Sverd i Fjell, three 10-meter (32-foot) high bronze swords that symbolize peace, unity, and freedom. Sverd i fjell, or Swords in Rock, was unveiled by King Olav in 1983 and pays tribute to the Battle of Hafrsfjord in AD 872.
