Set your sights and camera on the panoramic vistas surrounding Skjolden. This three-hour excursion is designed for those who prefer little or no walking but lots of photo opportunities, awe-inspiring scenery, and cool, crisp air.

After boarding your comfortable motorcoach, you'll head east out of Skjolden along the famous Sognefjellet National Tourist Road, voted "most scenic" by Norwegians. Known as the 'roof over Norway,' this was the only route connecting east and west Norway for centuries; if you look closely you may be able to see the ancient stone pyramids called 'varde,' which indicated safe trails over the mountain. Rising over 4,700 feet, this mountain pass is Northern Europe's highest and boasts eye-popping views of towering mountains and emerald valleys. A series of hairpin curves takes you past the quaint mountain village of Fortun. Wedged at the bottom of a tranquil fjord, look for the charming red and yellow wooden houses that appear stuck on the side of the mountain walls and the steep paths that lead to their front doors. The views become more and more spectacular as you continue to climb higher and higher up into the impressive Jotunheimen Mountains. Aptly named 'Home of the Giants,' they're home to some of the highest mountains in Europe north of the Alps; in fact, there are 24 colossal peaks that soar 6,560 feet above sea level.

A perfect way to soak up the unspoiled beauty of this dynamic area is at the alpine resort of Sognefjellshytta or Krossbu. After you arrive you'll have an hour to take photos, do a little exploring on a leisurely walk, and later, enjoy a cup of coffee, tea and Norwegian waffles. In addition to having some of Northern Europe's tallest mountains, Jotunheimen also holds the altitude record for a large number of Norway's mountain flora. Make sure to keep your camera handy as you may find strawberries growing wild among the heathery terrain. The white-petal glacier buttercup, purple saxifrage and rock-climbing avens are also arctic-loving plants. Although they may not make an appearance, Jotunheimen is also home to reindeers, elks, deer, foxes, minks and golden eagles. Later, you'll climb back aboard your motorcoach for the return journey along the same scenic route to Skjolden. Along the way, your motorcoach will stop at a number of dazzling viewpoints so you can stretch your legs and snap memorable photos of cascading waterfalls, notable monuments, and historic sites.

At the completion of this invigorating excursion, you'll return to port with a camera filled with beautiful memories to share with your family and friends.
