What you will visit:
Ultimate Musher's Camp Experience
On this exclusive excursion, experience it all a family-friendly musher's camp. This is a summer retreat to around 200 dogs, where the furry athletes train, raise their puppies, meet their adoring public and treat visitors to a unique thrill. On arrival at the camp, a 4x4 Unimog drives you up a rugged mountain road to the site for your mile-long ride aboard a custom-built wheeled sled pulled by a team of powerful sled dogs. You'll head out along a scenic wooded trail with views of the Taiya Inlet tidal flats. Expert dog mushing is on full display, and you'll top off your journey with the chance to meet and chat with the professional team, learn about what it takes to race the 1,000-mile trails such as the Iditarod and Yukon Quest, and take memorable pictures with the dogs and puppies.
Gold Panning
Next, you have the opportunity to pan for gold in the riverside sluice! Your guide will show you the art of gold panning and you can test your own luck. Gold is guaranteed. Afterwards, you can take a leisurely self-guided hike along a scenic trail or relax in the saloon with a deck overlooking a picturesque stream.
What you will see along the way:
Your tour begins with a 35-minute scenic drive to Dyea and the Musher's Camp. Along the way, enjoy commentary on the rich history of Skagway as you take in the magnificent scenery. At camp, the Unimog ride takes you 800 feet up the mountain, revealing dramatic vistas of snow-covered peaks, glacially fed streams and dense forests.
