What you will visit:

Ragusa Ibla:
Ragusa Ibla was rebuilt with exquisite baroque buildings following the devastating earthquake of 1693. Located on a wide limestone hill surrounded by green valleys, the city is composed of two distinct areas separated by a deep ravine. The Ragusa Supra (the upper town) is a baroque area the land-owning nobility call home, and the Ragusa Ibla is the lower area – one of shopkeepers and tradesmen. Both areas boast remarkable views and architectural wonders.

Modica:
Modica consists of two urban areas: the older, upper "Modica Alta" is situated on the top of the southern Ibeli hill; the lower "Modica Bassa" is built on the slopes of the valley below. The Chiesa di San Giorgio is considered one of architect Rosario Gagliardi's great masterpieces. This magnificent church presides over the top of Modica Alta, and a majestic 250-step staircase joins the two historic districts together, where the lively Corso Umberto, lined with graceful palaces, churches, restaurants, bars and boutiques, transects Modica Bassa.

What you will see along the way:
The gorgeous Sicilian countryside is known for its remarkable diversity and microclimates that unfurl from rugged mountains to forests with fields of wheat, olive groves and rolling hills studded with villages of stone and stucco.

Photo Opportunity:
The Church of St. George
The glorious three-tiered façade of the church of St. George looms high on the hill of the "Modica Alta" area. Hewn from white stone and a spectacular example of Sicilian baroque architecture, the church offers a spectacular view down its 250 steps to the area of Modica Bassa nestled below.

Lunch:
Meet up with your guide and proceed to a local restaurant for lunch. Later, savor a quick pick-me-up at a local dolceria, for a taste of chocolate made according to an ancient Mayan recipe.
