If leisurely is the way you roll, then this is the perfect excursion for you! Take in the history, romance and breathtaking architecture of your port city of Palermo during this 3 hour, leisurely guided tour that requires very little walking.

It all begins at your pier where you'll board an air-conditioned motorcoach for a comfortable drive about town to see its highlights! As you travel a friendly guide narrates, regaling you with fascinating anecdotes about the city's multi-century history. You'll cruise through Quattro Canti or "Four Corners" – the traditional heart of Palermo's old historic district and the site of many of its iconic monuments, churches and Baroque fountains. This central piazza is home to four stunning 17th-century palaces - each featuring a façade illustrating various themes, including the four seasons. Journey along the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, one of Palermo's main boulevards. Have your cameras at the ready as you encounter the spectacular Felice Gate located at the edge of Palermo Harbor and the Piazza Marina.

Imagine a time when this grand entrance welcomed visitors into this gorgeous medieval city. Located here also are the scenic Garibaldi Gardens and fine palaces including Palazzo Galetti (a 19th century palace which is now a B&B) and Palazzo Chiaramonte which has the notorious honor of having once served as the site for the tribunal of the Holy Inquisition. Also at the heart of old Palermo, situated at the highest point of the ancient city, is the Palazzo dei Normanni, the city's greatest attraction. This imposing structure was built in the 9th century by Arab Emirs then added to by the Normans who created its masterpiece, the Palatine Chapel adorned with extraordinary Byzantine mosaics. The palace served as the seat of power for the Kings of Sicily during the Norman rule. Today it is the seat of Sicily's regional parliament. Did you know that the largest opera house in Italy (and one of the largest in all of Europe) can be found in Palermo? Well, feast your eyes on the Teatro Massimo designed by Gian Battista Basile in the late 1860s. After 25 years of restoration, this neo-classical wonder reopened its doors in May 1997 and is famed for being the grand venue for the great tenor Enrico Caruso, whose career took off here.

Enjoy the best view of the city by marveling at the gulf of Palermo from the top of Montepellegrino, the promontory that on the 4th of September hosts thousands of pilgrims thanks to the presence of the Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of the city. Montepellegrino is part of a natural reserve that also includes the Park of the real estate La Favorita, created in 1799 by Ferdinand III and stretching over nearly 1000 acres. A photo stop here will enable you to take breathtaking pictures of the city.

You'll get the opportunity to spend some free time shopping and soaking up the Mediterranean Sea breezes during a stop at Mondello, Palermo's most popular beach resort. In a past era, it was a small tuna fishing site that, in the 19th century was transformed into a high-end vacation spot complete with bathhouses. Today, its pristine white sands, crystalline waters, picturesque village and elegant villas attract visitors looking to sunbathe, windsurf, snorkel, shop and simply unwind! It's a relaxing end to a relaxing day taking in the highlights of historic Palermo.
