WHAT YOU VISIT
Kokura Castle
Built between 1602 and 1608, the structure you see today is a 20th century replica of the castle that ten generations of the Hosokawa clan called home. Set on the bank of the Murasaki River, it's the only castle in Fukuoka Prefecture with a castle. The castle's inner stronghold was destroyed by fire in 1837 and the donjon you see today was rebuilt in 1959 and the castle buildings were completely restored in 1991. Inside, you'll find a museum with samurai armor, a diorama of the castle during the Edo period, a small theater, and a lord's palanquin. Kokura Castle features double and triple moats surrounding a donjon. Although the castle seems to have four floors from the outside, it has five on the inside.

Mojiko Retro District
Once a successful international port, the town of Moji is home to many historic buildings that have been preserved in pristine condition since the late 19th century. In the Mojiko Retro District sits the Moji Mitsui Club. Constructed in 1921 as a reception and accommodation facility of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Japan's first general trading company, it gained fame when Albert Einstein visited in 1922 and praised its beauty.
※Entrance fee for the Moji Mitsui Club is not included.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES

Another memorable photo awaits at the Mekari Park Second Observatory where you can enjoy views of the Kanmon Bridge that stretches 1,068 meters (3,504 feet) over the Kanmon Strait.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Enjoy the scenic ride to Kitakyusyu in Fukuoka prefecture, once the battleground of Kublai Khan of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century.
