WHAT YOU VISIT
Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center
Sacred and snow-capped, the iconic Mt. Fuji was designated a serene "place and source of artistic inspiration" earning a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Built in 2017 to celebrate this honor, the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center's funnel-shaped structure offers a simulated experience of ascending the tallest mountain in Japan at 3,776 meters (12,388 feet). A visit to the top floor boasts amazing views of one of the world's most awe-inspiring attractions (weather permitting).
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Enjoy a stop at the Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine. Located in the foothills of Mt. Fuji, it was originally built in the early 1600s to offer protection from volcanic eruptions. Although damaged by frequent earthquakes through the centuries, the inner and outer shrines and the tower gate remain intact. Its grounds are quite picturesque, and over 500 cherry trees bloom here in March and April. Climbers often stop here to pray before ascending the mountain.
