You will continue south down the west coast towards St Ninian's Isle where the famous Pictish horde of silver dating from the 9th Century was found in 1958.
St Ninian's is one of the finest sand tombolo's in Europe, and it is the largest active tombolo in the UK, also home to the chapel in which famous "treasure" was found - 28 Pictish silver objects and the jawbone of a porpoise were buried under a cross-marked slab close to the altar. Walk across the sand and back to take in the sights before the coach departs and visits the wildlife hide at the Spiggie Nature reserve. At the Spiggie nature reserve you will be able to take in the beauty of the Loch; at a mile long it's home to many Swans and waders as well as terns.
The coach will then tour the banks of the Loch before a visit to the cliff top nature reserve of Sumburgh head, home to a Puffin colony and the amazing skyscraper of seabirds. Then the coach will bring you to the Robins Brae Shetland Ponies stop, here you will be given a talk on shetland ponies and the history of shetlands workhorse, again plenty chance for a photo, leaving the Pony stop you will then be taken back to Lerwick.
