Step back through the centuries on an independent trip to storied Seville, one of Spain's most dynamic cities. The day kicks off with a 105-minute coach transfer from the port at Cádiz to Seville, for approximately 4.5 hours of free time and independent navigation through the lively historic centre, bordering the great Guadalquivir River.
A build-your-own Seville itinerary might begin with the landmark cathedral, a masterwork of Gothic architecture created between the 14th and 15th centuries on the site of a former mosque; its distinctive Giralda bell tower was once a minaret. From here, all paths lead to Seville's Real Alcázar, which bursts with orange-scented gardens, Mudéjar-Christian architecture and beautifully tiled courtyards, and is one of the country's most memorable relics (particularly the Palace of King Don Pedro, dating from the 14th century). Winding around these major attractions is the delightful Barrio de Santa Cruz, Seville's ancient Jewish Quarter – a maze of white-walled streets, overflowing tapas bars, shops stocking flamenco accessories and flowerpots hidden away in quiet patios.
After five hours of exploration, return to the pier at Cádiz on a 90-minute transfer.
