This 90-minute tour takes you through the city. Along the way, your guide will recount its history that stretches back 2,500 years with the establishment of an Illyrian city called Onchesmos whose ruins stand in the city center. Excavations reveal remains of dwellings, water cisterns and an early Christian Basilica from the 5th and 6th centuries that contain a beautiful multi-colored floor mosaic. Through the centuries, Greeks, Romans, Ottomans and Venetians found this spot on the horseshoe bay overlooking the Ionian a pleasing and strategic location.
