Santa Cruz by Hop-on, Hop-off bus
From tranquil botanical gardens and vibrant markets to a behind-the-scenes look at the island's annual Carnival, you'll find something for everyone in this convenient hop-on hop-off excursion on a double-decker bus. With an open-top, you'll have 360° views of landmarks and the hop-on hop-off option offers you the freedom to discover Santa Cruz at your leisure and create your own itinerary. The 13 stops begin at Plaza de España and includes Palmetum/Parque Marítimo, Auditorio, Intercambiador de guaguas, Tres de Mayo, Estadio/ Parque Viera y Clavijo, Plaza Weyler, Plaza Los Patos, Parque García Sanabria, Museo Militar, Mercado Nuestra Señora de África, MUNA, and Casa del Carnaval.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Once in your comfortable seat, the bus will drive past the city's highlights, allowing for photo opportunities from the comfort of your seat.
LUNCH
One of the joys of foreign travel is discovering a new cuisine and the main street of Tres de Mayo hosts a variety of restaurants. Tenerife's close proximity to Europe and Africa has created a melting pot of savory dishes like "conejo con salmorejo" (rabbit with spicy tomato sauce), is a perfect example. For dessert, there's "bienmesabe," a paste made from ground almonds, lemon rind and eggs, and served with ice cream. And Canarian bananas, Tenerife's main crop, are a sweet treat not to be missed.
SHOPPING
If shopping's on the agenda, hop off at El Mercado de Nuestra Señora de África. This lively market overflows with fresh produce, aromatic spices, and local delicacies and the artisan stalls feature souvenirs, from hand-painted ceramics to colorful textiles.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Soak up the exceptional city sights as you ride down the urban cosmopolitan boulevards and traverse its hills for bird's eye views of the city.
