WHAT YOU VISIT
Tijuca Forest
Join a small group of ten for an intimate tour of the lush and verdant Tijuca Forest. Just steps from Rio de Janeiro, this tropical jungle sits inside Tijuca National Park. Covering 7,900 acres, the park is the largest urban rainforest on Earth with over 1,600 plant species and more than 350 different species of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles and encompasses the last remaining tracts of Atlantic rainforest that once surrounded Rio. And an ideal way to view its jaw-dropping beauty is from the seat of a 4x4. Enjoy the rugged ride to the Chinese Lookout that boasts panoramic views of Corcovado and Sugar Loaf mountains, Ipanema and Leblon beaches, and the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Photo opportunities abound. Monkeys swing through the tree tops, anteaters and armadillos forage in the undergrowth while birds like toucans, buzzards, and hawks fly through the trees. The park is also home to 30 waterfalls and you'll stop at the largest. Rising 114 feet high, the cascading waters of the Taunay Waterfall are a photographer's delight.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Your scenic forest route takes you past tropical trees like Brazilian mahogany, cinnamon, and mimosa knotted together by jungle vines. And on your return trip to the pier, you'll travel along a long stretch of beautiful beaches.
