What you will visit:
Ishestar Riding Center:
Enjoy the spectacular Icelandic terrain by horseback at the Ishestar Riding Center, offering horseback riding tours in Iceland for over 35 years. Immerse yourself in the spellbinding Icelandic nature-scape and the chance to experience iconic Icelandic horses, a pure breed that can be traced to the late 9th century. Renowned for its good disposition, intelligence, and over 40 different colors and 100 variations, the breed's most significant characteristic is that it has mastered five gaits: walk, trot, tolt, canter/gallop and flying pace. It offers a very smooth ride for even the most novice horseman, favoring the four-beat gait called tolt, which is even and elegant. Specially trained guides lead guests on excellent riding paths through the beautiful scenery full of lava fields and green hillsides.
What you will see along the way:
The highlight of the dramatic Icelandic scenery are the lava fields, also known as lava beds. The plains are extensive, barren expanses covered in a downy moss that stretches for miles forming gorgeous, desolate landscapes.
