What you will visit:

Nao Victoria Ship Museum
Step into history at the Nao Victoria Ship Museum, where full-scale replicas of legendary vessels bring the great maritime journeys of the past to life. This open-air museum invites visitors to explore recreated artifacts and engage in interactive experiences. The highlight is the Nao Victoria, Ferdinand Magellan's flagship and the only vessel to complete the first circumnavigation of the globe. Three other replicas are also on display: the James Caird, the lifeboat used by Shackleton during his 1916 Antarctic journey; the Goleta Ancud, which helped establish Chile's control over the Strait of Magellan; and the HMS Beagle, the ship where Charles Darwin began developing his theory of evolution. This museum offers not just a glimpse of history but the chance to experience it firsthand.

Maggiorino Borgatello Museum
Step into this 1,700-square-foot museum crafted by devoted Salesian missionaries and discover meticulously curated exhibits on four captivating themes: ethnology, archaeology, history and wildlife. Peruse exhibits showcasing the exquisite handicrafts and tools of the indigenous people from the Magallanes Region, encounter fossils and petrified animals that tell tales of ancient times, and inspect dioramas that skillfully reenact life prior to colonization. Among the highlights is a faithful recreation of the Cave of the Hands (Cueva de las Manos), an iconic site in Argentine Patagonia adorned with prehistoric rock art. Enjoy 40 minutes at this enriching venue, keeping in mind that the exhibit's interpretive panels are exclusively in Spanish.

What you will see along the way:
As you ride through Punta Arenas, you'll see colorful houses, busy plazas, and signs of the city's history as a trading hub. Leaving the center, the road passes open Patagonian plains with views of the Strait of Magellan. Along the coast, look for fishing boats, seabirds and, on clear days, distant glimpses of Tierra del Fuego. The drive itself gives you a sense of everyday life in the city and the rugged scenery that shaped Magellan's famous route.

Photo Opportunities:
Cerro de la Cruz
Ascend to the Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint and focus your lens on the breathtaking panorama of the colorful rooftops and sweeping expanse of the Magellan Strait from the top of Cerro de la Cruz.

Plaza De Armas
Capture photos of the statue of Ferdinand Magellan, which stands proudly as a tribute to the region's spirit of exploration. Local legend says that a touch of the statue's toe guarantees a return to this enchanting land.
