WHAT YOU VISIT
Fly Fishing on the Río Maullín
Discovered by Spanish solider Garcia Hurtado de Mendoza in 1558, the 53-mile-long Río Maullín offers the experienced, as well as the novice fisherman a fun day out on the water in the great outdoors of Northern Patagonia. When you arrive at the banks of the beautiful Río Maullín, you'll disembark and receive your fishing gear (weight rods with floating and sinking lines) and instructions. The small number of guests ensures that each participant will receive personal attention from their guide. Note that fish can't be brought back on board the ship, fishing is all catch-and-release.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Imagine holding a freshly caught 126-pound king salmon--you'll definitely want to capture that on film!

LUNCH
When hunger strikes, a picnic lunch will be served surrounded by the lush vegetation that lines the riverbank.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
The approximate one-hour drive includes paved roads and the road leading to the river is bumpy. Once you reach the river, you will board a small boat for an approximately eight-mile ride to the ideal spot.

Special Notes

Although only a few horse flies live near this river, wear light-colored clothing to avoid attracting them. Bring insect repellent. As fish cannot be brought back to the ship, fishing will be catch-and-release. A catch is likely but is not guaranteed. Bring a towel. Tour accommodates two guests per boat and is priced per person. Book early as only three boats are available. Minimum age is 12 years.
