Horseback Adventure in Puerto Pirámides
Discover the wild landscapes of Península Valdés on a 1.5-hour horseback ride with the Ferro family, descendants of Genoese pioneers who settled here in 1880. Their ancestors helped shape this remote corner of Patagonia by raising Merino sheep and harvesting the salt that led to the founding of Puerto Pirámides. From atop your trusty steed, learn about the family's heritage as you follow coastal trails across rolling dunes and open steppe toward panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way, your guides share stories of ranch life and tradition while pointing out native wildlife. It's an authentic way to connect with
Patagonia's landscape, wildlife and living history. No riding experience required.
What you will see along the way:
As you leave the port, you'll travel through open Patagonian steppe dotted with low brush and grazing guanacos. The landscape en route to the Península Valdés Interpretation Center is wide and quiet, with views of Golfo Nuevo. Once atop your steed, take in the spectacular scenery and wildlife. Explore rolling sand dunes, dramatic coastal views, and the chance to spot sea lions, penguins and guanacos. Pause at the historic Italian cemetery, then continue on to panoramic views of the beautiful beach that rims the village of Puerto Pirámides.
Lunch:
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant featuring classic Argentine flavors. Savor a handmade empanada to start, followed by tender petit beef with rustic potatoes, then finish with a scoop of ice cream-a satisfying taste of Patagonia's culinary tradition.
