Prepare to be thrilled as you tour Reunion, a stunning French island located in the Indian Ocean, that is graced with lush, sweeping landscapes and a volcano that acts as a towering, dramatic backdrop.
Your island tour is guaranteed to be a unique experience, starting the moment you meet your English-speaking guide at the pier, for a scenic bus drive along the western coast of the island, passing by the panoramic Tamarinds road.
En route to the Piton de la Fournaise volcano, you will enjoy a spectacular photo stop at Nez de Boeuf, where you will enjoy views over the deep Riviere des Remparts valley.
After climbing back onto the bus you will then make for Plaine des Sables, a plain of ash and lava rock that lies just north of Reunion's volcano. Bearing a striking similarity to a lunar landscape, you will be enthralled as you approach the volcano. With no vegetation in sight, it feels eerily like you are on the moon.
Your unique tour then comes to another stop at Pas de Bellecombe, an ideal spot to view the Piton de las Fournaise, with its striking volcano cone that is layered with black lava. Here, you will be able to take in the panoramas of the desolate volcanic landscape, and hopefully, catch a view of the crater of Formica Leo with its black volcanic slag formations. This still active "Furnace Peak" volcano is over one million years old and closely monitored for activity. The volcano last erupted in February 2026 and lasted for two days. This activity means that the landscape is always changing - the lava flows of the February to April 2026 eruption increased Reunion's land area by 21 acres.
After enjoying these extraordinary sights, you will drive to a charming country restaurant to savor a delicious Creole lunch, which may include a "carry", one with meat and one with fish, cooked with local species as curcuma
After lunch, visit of the new museum "cité du volcan" with interactive discovery . This equipment of 6000 m² proposes an innovative museum which integrates numerous interactive models. This museography of dumping is obtained by the use of numerous innovative and interactive planssuch as the holographic projection, the increased of reality, the sound and visual atmospheres … All these technological processes places the visitor in conditions reproducing certain characteristics of volcanoes and allowing to feel sensations and to live fully the subject of the exhibition.
