This truly stunning half-day excursion of Reunion takes you to many delightful far-flung corners of the island, on an enjoyable and relaxing bus tour.

After being greeted at the pier by your friendly English-speaking guide, you will head along the beautiful west coast, passing through the town of St. Paul, where the first inhabitants of Reunion settled in 1646. An exciting coastline, you will have time to soak up the views of the seemingly never-ending beaches, composed of either white or black sand.

The ribbons of beaches will soon turn into fields of sugarcane, geraniums and tamarinds as the altitude increases, as you make your way to La Petite France Perfume Distillery.

En route, you will stop at Piton Maido, to enjoy breath-taking views of the distant Mafate basin and the island's highest peaks, including Piton des Neiges and the plains below. The Piton des Neiges volcano is flanked by three volcanic basins surrounded by sheer rocky walls - a dramatic and unforgettable backdrop.

After arriving at the charming La Petite France distillery, you will learn more about the distillation process. Here, geraniums, which grow well at altitude, are used to make a delightful essence, which when distilled creates many popular perfumes. The flower was introduced to Reunion from southern Africa in 1800's, and it takes around 1500 lbs. of leaves to produce four cups of essence. After touring this sweet-smelling perfumery, you will then have the opportunity to purchase the geranium essence in their shop.

After leaving La Petite France, drive back to port.
