WHAT YOU VISIT
Khao Phra Thaeo National Park
Located in the north of Phuket, this wildlife sanctuary is the only virgin, untouched rain forest left on the island. Stretching 23 square kilometers (eight square miles), the protected area boasts diverse wildlife including about 100 species of birds, tusked hairy wild boars, monkeys, cobras, pythons and flying foxes. When you arrive, a knowledgeable guide and a park ranger will lead you on an approximately two-hour hike on a jungle trail. As you ramble through the forest of mahogany, evergreen, ficus and bamboo, you may hear the "whoop" call of a gibbon. Graceful streams gently cascade from the hillside and several rivers feed the jungle's rich ecosystem with fresh clean water and you may witness some wildlife stopping for a quick drink at the tranquil Nam Tok Tone Sai waterfall.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
With a forest full of flora and fauna, every moment of your hike features abundant photo opportunities but you should also be on the lookout for the very rare white elephant palm; only found in Thailand, it's distinguished by its silver-white leaves.

SHOPPING
Your excursion includes a stop where you can browse for crafts, Thai cotton and silk, semi-precious stones, pearls and other souvenirs.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Board your air-conditioned motorcoach and set out for Khao Phra Taew National Park. Along the way enjoy views of the island's forested hills, rubber plantations, coconut groves and small farms.
