Enjoy a short scenic motorcoach ride en route to the central part of Penang Island, where you'll discover the spectacular Buddhist Kek Lok Si Temple, one of the best known temples on the island and one of the largest in Southeast Asia.
Commanding its hilltop location, the Kek Lok Si Temple complex is made up of three areas, encompassing beautiful garden grounds, a Seven Tier Pagoda that seamlessly entwines Chinese, Thai and Burmese architecture, and a lovely water feature known as the Tortoise Longevity Pond. According to Chinese tradition, turtles symbolize longevity and strength, and the act of freeing a turtle is a symbol of spiritual liberation. At the very top of the complex, you will find a massive statue of Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy, as well as additional gardens and temples.
A short drive brings you to the colorful Thai Buddhist Temple, home to the amazing Reclining Buddha Temple, a traditional Thai Buddhist temple which features one of the largest reclining Buddha in the world. This magnificent, gold-covered statue is over one hundred feet long - and is truly an amazing sight to behold.
