WHAT YOU WILL VISIT:
Osaka Castle
Osaka's most famous landmark and symbol of its pride, Osaka Castle was built in 1583, erected on two raised platforms atop a tall stone foundation to protect the ruler from sword-wielding samurai. Osaka Castle has withstood the ravages of time and underwent a facelift in 1997, with fresh white plaster, a new roof, decorative ornaments, and gold-leaf accents. The castle's grounds extend 400 acres and are dotted with historic structures. They are renowned for exquisite gardens and age-old cherry trees. An observation deck affords 360-degree views of the city. An onsite museum features valuable historical materials from 1570 to 1600.

Sumiyoshi Shrine
Sumiyoshi Shrine, one of the oldest shrines in Japan, was founded in the 3rd century. The shrine was constructed in a unique architecture style, called Sumiyoshi-zukuri, purely Japanese without influence from the Asian mainland. It enshrines three gods that are believed to offer protection for sailors and to bring prosperity. A gracefully high-arched bridge spans a pond at the entrance to the main building.

WHAT YOU WILL SEE ALONG THE WAY:
Your adventure begins as you board your motorcoach and set out on an excursion through Osaka, Japan's third largest city. Along the way, your guide will point out the many modern structures that coexist with ancient temples and shrines. Your journey will take you past the newly developed area in Osaka, home to skyscrapers, a hotel, a concert hall, restaurants, shops and a museum. Another 21st-century addition is Namba City, Osaka's most famous shopping and entertainment district, with over 300 shops and restaurants.
