WHAT YOU VISIT
Sagastad
This acclaimed center that focuses on the Viking Age is home to the 100-foot-long Myklebust, the largest Viking ship remains ever found in Norway. Named for the farm where the ship was unearthed, the reconstructed ship offers a glimpse into the Vikings' ship-building techniques, their history and culture.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Photo ops abound during your walk, especially the statue called "Sørgande Mor," which honors mothers whose children have been lost to war.

SNACKS
While on the walk through Nordfjordeid you'll be treated with a cinnamon or fruit bun and a cup of coffee.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Established during the days of the Vikings, this charming city of 6,000 is a delight to explore on a walking tour. With a local in the lead, you're sure to get an in-depth look at this quaint village that sits where the Eid River merges with the fjord. One of the first sights you'll see is Malakoff, where Norway´s first military training camp was established in 1628; today, it's renowned as the site of a festival that entertains up to 30,000 people each year. On your walk, you'll notice several memory stones and statues that pay tribute to Norway's fallen soldiers. Stroll past some of the best preserved 19th century houses with charming green gardens, the humble Eid Church (whose roots date back to the 14th century), and the Opera House.
