WHAT YOU VISIT
Tokoname
For over 1,000 years, generations of master potters have created tableware, teapots, vases and more out of Tokoname clay, renowned for its high-iron content. The city is so proud of its ceramic heritage that an outdoor gallery was created to introduce you to its history. Known as the Pottery Footpath, this collection of winding streets is lined with pots, kilns, and a string of ceramic-themed museums and buildings. Tucked among the Tokoname Pottery Pathway are modern works of art made by local craftsmen and women and following the tour, enjoy a walk around Tokoname Pottery town at on your own pace.
INAX Live Museum
Six halls display over 1,000 different tiles from the Orient, as well as Islamic tiles, Spanish, Dutch, English, Chinese and Japanese decorative tiles. Replicated tiles from ancient Egypt and Asia, floor tiles, wall tiles, ceiling tiles, bathroom, kitchen and fireplace tiles are also featured.
