室蘭港を出発後、森林に包まれた穏やかな丘陵地帯を車窓に眺めながら、支笏洞爺国立公園へ。この地域は、環太平洋火山帯（リング・オブ・ファイア）に属するエリアとして知られ、火山が生み出したダイナミックな景観を楽しめます。途中、約10万年前の火山噴火によって誕生した洞爺湖に立ち寄り、湖畔の美しい景色を背景に写真撮影をお楽しみいただきます。噴火により川の流れがせき止められて形成されたこの湖は、今も穏やかな水面をたたえる自然の宝石です。その後、バスでほど近い有珠山（うすざん）へ向かいます。有珠山は日本有数の活火山で、過去100年の間に4度（1910年、1944年、1977年、2000年）噴火を記録しています。ロープウェイに乗って山頂付近まで上がると、標高約730メートル（2,404フィート）からの大パノラマが広がります。眼下には雄大な海岸線、1945年に誕生した日本で最も新しい火山の一つ昭和新山、そして有珠山最大の火口を望む、迫力ある景観をご堪能いただけます。

You'll board a motorcoach for a scenic journey through rolling, forested countryside on your way to the Shikotsu-Toya National Park and the "Rim of Fire." Be sure to bring your camera. You'll pause for photos by beautiful Lake Toya, formed when an eruption of a volcano about 100 thousand years ago diverted a stream to create this vast pool. From there, it's a short drive to Mount Usu (Usuzan), one of most active volcanoes in Japan. It's erupted four times within last 100 years (in 1910, 1944, 1977 and 2000). A gondola ride up the Ropeway will bring you close to the volcano's summit, 2,404 feet above sea level. There you can bask in the spectacular views of the coast, neighboring Showa Shinzan, Japan's youngest volcano, "born" in 1945 and Mount Usu's largest crater.
