There comes a time when you need to escape - even on vacation! And nothing could be more restful than a leisurely sail around the calm waters of one of French Polynesia's most beautiful islands. When the captain sails into the clear waters of a peaceful lagoon, you can dive right into the warm, tropical waters and explore the wonders down under.
So renowned is Moorea's intoxicating charms it ranks #13 in "National Geographic Traveler's: World´s 111 Best Island Destinations."
To make your aquatic adventure even more enjoyable remember to wear a bathing suit under your clothes and, if you prefer, you can bring your own snorkel gear or feel free to use the provided snorkel and mask onboard the vessel. Biodegradable sunscreen, a hat, aqua shoes, rash guard or t-shirt and a hat are also recommended. And don't forget to bring a waterproof camera to capture each memorable moment.
Your adventure begins as soon as you step aboard the 43-foot catamaran. After your captain casts off you'll slowly make your way out of the harbor as the soothing sea breezes gently caress your face. Enjoy the views from the expansive deck, the solariums, spacious cockpit or saloon as friendly crewmembers provide you with refreshing drinks and snacks.
As you head out over the glistening waters you may be surprised to learn that molten magma, tidal winds and gentle rains shaped Moorea's spectacular landscape. But according to Polynesian legend the island's volcanic ridges are remnants of a fish's dorsal fin. And when a golden-skinned lizard became trapped on a reef, the gods turned the little reptile into the island of Moorea, which, in Polynesian, means "golden lizard."
During your two-hour sail in the beautiful lagoon of Moorea you'll receive a professional safety and instruction course on how to use the snorkel gear and when the boat cruises into the perfect spot, your captain will drop anchor. Then, you'll don your gear and descend into the warm, turquoise waters. (However, if you prefer, you can remain on board, stretch out and soak up the sun).
Below the surface of the boat you'll find an underworld garden of coral, and a rainbow of angelfish, parrotfish and butterfly fish - you may even spot sea turtles or a dolphin.
After free time snorkeling, you'll resurface and climb back aboard. Then as your captain turns the catamaran around and sets sail for the dock you can relish the last few moments of your escape from the everyday routine. Share your experience with others, enjoy refreshing drinks or stretch out on the sun-drenched deck and catch some rays before returning to your ship.
