WHAT YOU VISIT
Bergtatt Mine
Tucked between Molde and the Atlantic Ocean Road, Bergtatt has been extracting marble and limestones since 1938. Following a safety demo and gearing up in helmets and life jackets, a bus will drive deep into the mountain. With your guide in the lead, you'll step into a raft and cruise across a lake through the marble caves lit up by chandeliers. Once on the other side, you'll come ashore for a special souvenir. After returning, you will see a scenic and interesting movie about the mine and the surrounding area. Before saying goodbye to this amazing place, you will enjoy a coffee break with traditional "svele," similar to a fluffy flapjack.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
A stop in the charming fishing village of Bud offers views of uninhabited Bjørnsund Island whose well-preserved old wharves and homes attract vacationers every summer.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Voted one of the most world's spectacular roads by National Geographic, the Atlantic Ocean Road is approximately eight kilometers (five miles) of twists and turns that could rival a roller coaster. The road connects several small islands and skerries via viaducts, causeways, and eight bridges that boast amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean Norwegian Sea.
