WHAT YOU VISIT
Cape Higashi-Hennazaki
Designated a Place of Scenic Beauty, this stunning one-mile stretch of steep, jagged limestone cliffs is a gloriously romantic spot, blanketed with flowers and a picturesque lighthouse perched at the cape's tip.

Shimajiri Mangrove Park
Mangroves, often called the "forests of the sea," are communities of evergreen trees that grow in brackish waters along the shores. A natural monument, they are an integral part of Miyako Island's ecosystem, and birds, crabs, mudskippers and more can be observed while strolling a pedestrian walkway that cuts through the forest.

Yukishio (Snow Powder Salt) Facility
"Snow salt," a fine salt powder created from sea water is a delicacy native to this region. Due to its extremely high mineral content, it's been certified by Guinness World Records as the richest mineral salt in the world. The museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the salt's production process.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Resembling a bird in flight, the Makiyama Observatory boasts panoramic views of Miyako, Irabu and the bridges that connect the surrounding islands, including the remarkable Irabu Ohashi Bridge, the longest in Okinawa. In addition to the observatory, you'll make a photo stop at Maehama Beach. Considered one of Japan's best beaches, this stunning stretch of soft white sand on the southwestern corner of Miyako Island offers a magnificent view of the glistening seas and the Kurima Ohashi Bridge.

LUNCH
Your day's complete with a delicious lunch served at a local restaurant.
