WHAT YOU VISIT
Mazatlan Observatory, Whale Museum Discovery and Lunch
Climb aboard a funicular and slowly glide 80 meters (265 feet) up to the 1873 Observatory, which sits atop Lookout Hill, known locally as Cerro del Vigía. Built to protect Mazatlan from pirates, the observatory became a meteorological and seismological observatory in 1910. Today, this beautifully restored landmark is filled with gardens, exhibits, and MUNBA – the National Whale Museum, where fascinating displays and conservation exhibits bring the story of Pacific whales to life.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Cliff Divers Show:
Pause to witness one of Mazatlán's most thrilling traditions - the daring cliff divers leaping from the rocky ledges of Olas Altas into the Pacific Ocean below. Capture this breathtaking spectacle and learn about the precision and bravery behind this beloved local art form.
Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception
Stop briefly at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, one of Mazatlán's most stunning architectural treasures. Take photos of its neo-Gothic design and surrounding Plazuela República while your guide provides fascinating stories about the city's religious and colonial past.
From the Observatory's soaring perspective you can aim your lens at the stunning views of the city and the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean (and if the timing's right, you may see a passing whale).
LUNCH
Indulge in a delicious taco lunch of fish, chicken or traditional machaca (shredded beef), served with a side garnish; vegetarian tacos are available upon request. Each meal includes one refreshing beverage-options include bottled water, soft drink, local beer or a house margarita.

Special Notes
This tour involves moderate walking over a combination of paved paths, cobblestone streets, and some uneven surfaces. At the 1873 Observatory, guests will encounter stairs, inclined surfaces, and optional panoramic stairways with viewpoints. A funicular ride minimizes uphill walking, though some areas of the park require standing and walking on gravel or garden pathways.
19th Century Museum & Sky Bar: Access to the museum requires about 10 wide, gradual steps (part of the tour). The Sky Bar terraces, located on the upper level require approximately 20 additional steps (this area is optional for guests who wish to go upstairs).
MUNBA Whale Museum: The main exhibits are located on the ground level with flat, paved floors. The second floor can be reached via 15 gentle steps (with landings) or through an exterior ramp followed by 5 steps. Guests who prefer to stay on the lower level can still enjoy a full explanation
